Plantlife Workshops – August 18th

Hosted by ‘Wild About Plants.org.uk’ this summer workshop will feature sowing seeds, telling stories and doing craft activities as ways to explore the garden. It will run in ‘Kangaroo time’ from 10 – 12 on Wednesday August 18th. Please contact Guin on guinevere.webster@gmail.com if you’re interested in coming along so she can gauge how many might be there. Kangaroo meets every Wednesday

We meet every Wednesday from 10am – 1pm at the Community Gardens on Barracks Lane. We have the use of both the garden and the yurt. The suggested donation is £1 per adult which goes towards the garden.

You can check for announcements on the oxfordattachmentparenting@yahoo.com group, but recently the regulars have been there every week come rain or shine!

Kangaroo Playgroup is a social group for mums, dads, other carers and little ones who are interested in or practising natural parenting. It aims to provide a forum to socialise, play and share skills in a friendly and informal setting. Come and learn about natural parenting by watching other parents who are doing it!

We meet up regularly in a variety of venues – details of meetings are discussed on the Oxford Attachment Parenting Yahoo Chatgroup and posted on the website. Where necessary we ask for a contribution towards venue hire costs (usually £1 suggested donation per family).

We’re not all hippies, though some of us have been known to wear sandals or eat the odd lentil. Whether you’re a seasoned natural parent or are just dipping your toe in the water, we’d be glad to welcome you and your little one!

Friday 22nd May – St Matthews

The next Kangaroo Playgroup will be on Friday 22nd May 10am – 12 noon at St Matthews Church on Marlborough Road. You can see a map below.

There is an outside space we can use if the weather is nice, and there are a few big ride on toys. Please bring some small toys along for your little ones that you don’t mind them sharing.

We will not have access to the kitchen, so there are no hot drinks. Please bring a cold drink along for yourself if you will want one. We’ll provide some snacks.

Please also bring along £1 to help with room hire costs!

It’s the first ever Kangaroo Playgroup session on Thursday!

We have St Luke’s Church (Canning Crescent, off Abingdon Road in Oxford) booked from 10-12 am this Thurs 19th.

On the yahoo chat groups, we talked about a ‘theme’ for this session being home education (or alternative approaches to mainstream schooling), another suggestion was vaccination, and it would also be worth talking some more about our ideas for Kangaroo Playgroup and how we would like it to be.

Oxford Sling Meet will provide tea and coffee, and maybe bring a cake or something. Feel free to bring some milk, some toddler friendly snacks, and anything else you think would be useful!

There are plenty of toys at the venue. Oxford Sling Meet will cover the cost of hiring it but I suggest we could each put in about one pound donation towards this.
